Maxwell's Sophomore Season

Here are the results of some very hard work by my friend Christie. She has a definite talent for things like this. I absolutely love the end product which is Maxwell's second year preserved for my sentimental moments and also for your enjoyment.

Fireworks

Jeff and I had put Max to bed like normal. Jeff and I were watching The Office when all of the sudden we hear loud pops and booms. Max wakes up screaming and I remember that Santa Fe High School is having a homecoming celebration. Dang it! Jeff went ahead and got Max up since our dogs and every other dog in the neighborhood was freaking out. We took Max outside to watch and I'm so glad we did. We didn't take him to fireworks the past 2 years at the 4th of July because we thought it may scare Max and it is always so late. There we were my two favorite boys, Max sitting on Jeff's shoulders clapping and saying "yeah!" So it may have been a surprise but it ended up being a happy one.

The Big 2-7!

I turned 27 yesterday. And now that I am officially closer to 30 than 20 I have been reflecting on my life. I could be down about the fact that I could have been done with college by now if I had stayed in. Which many of you know I never would have finished since I'm not what you would call scholarly. Or I could just bask in the good things that are my life! So here is to 27 years or learning, fun, heartache and unimaginable joy, and hoping for 57 more!

Yesterday was a pretty normal day. I went to work, spent time with Max and Jeff came home. People tell me that as you get older birthdays just become another day and it was with some special moments thrown in. After work Max and I ran some errands. We had time in between errands and meeting my bestie Christie that we stopped at Penick Park. I couldn't get any really great pictures but here is what I got.

After the park we went to Hobby Lobby where Christie and Nicholas bought me a new pair of sewing scissors. It was to adorable when we left Nicholas gave me my present and randomly started singing "Happy Birthday." Christie was floored! She didn't know he could sing that and she just had a birthday last week and did not receive the glorious serenade that I did. I'm pretty sure she was jealous. After that Jeff and I ended up going to Flat Tire Burger. Yes I had a burger on my birthday but have no fear I went to my FAVORITE place on Monday, Sophabellas, with my whole family. It was delish as always. Overall it was a good day. Jeff made me a cake and my nephews in Texas (Eric & Coleton What up!) sang me one of the best birthday songs ever. It brought a smile to my face that never left, thank you boys. Here it is if for your viewing pleasure too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9f_wM9J8oic

A day at home with my sicko!

My mom normally watches Max on Mondays but she is sick so I had to stay at home with Max today. Poor little guy has a typical cold. We spent a lot of the day on the couch watching Sesame Street. My poor sick baby!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Jeff and I took Max to the last Redhawks game of the season on Friday. We had fun, some of us more than others. Apparently according to Jeff Max is much better at the games when I'm not there. We did leave early but the time we were there wasn't to bad. I used to love going to baseball games with Jeff until he started going so much that I hated it! He thought it would be nice to go as a family since he has a friend that has a suite and he was right.

My sweet boys!

Max was crawling on EVERYTHING! Thank goodness we were in a suite where he could do that.

Max during the national anthem. Jeff was really trying to get him to pay attention.

He figured out that I brought "Steve" with us and found it in my purse. Sneaky little guy!

New Wheels

I have been meaning to post this for a week or so now. I had to get Maxwell a new stroller because we sold our other one thinking that we wouldn't need it anymore and the umbrella (ella ella) stroller would be enough. Little did I know that he still wouldn't be walking. So we made a trip to Toys 'R' Us and bought a decent model. Here is what we got.

Max found out that he fits perfectly in the basket on the bottom. Each time I took him out he kept climbing back in. Now when we take the stroller anywhere even if it's full of stuff he will still try to climb in.

Cascade Dafo Inserts

Some of you may remember the orthodic inserts that Max wore for a bit. Well he grew out of them and my insurance only covers one pair for the life of the policy. We didn't have a spare $2500 laying around so we bought him as good of a pair of shoes we could find from the store. That wasn't helping and he kept pronating his feet. Jamie our physical therapist mentioned an alternative that was only $150. So we purchased the Cascade Dafo insert for Maxwell. They are not quite as nice and a little more rigid, but at least it's something. Here is Max with them. When I set him down to put them on I think he remembered exactly what he was supposed to do because he put his foot straight in the air and waited for me to them on him. What do you think?

Weekend in Texas

Here we are traveling to Texas to see some of our favorite people. I got an idea from my bestie Christie to take along our portable DVD player. Good Idea! The ride down to Texas got a little rough at points. My dad went with us because Jeff was stuck in town since he couldn't get off work on Friday. Dad made me ignore Max after we had fed him, gave him a drink and toys. Finally he fell asleep for the last 45 minutes. We arrived in Texas unloaded the car and went to lunch. Uncle Brian wanted to go to a hibachi grill. We drove around and found one and Max loved it. He ate it up including Uncle Brian's "yuckies" (zucchini). After that it was a nice relaxing weekend. Nothing major planned just how I like it. My sister and I went shopping a little and my AWESOME nephews and niece helped out with Max. Emma was the only one who could get him to nap while we were gone. Thanks Em! It was really fun and a great Labor Day.
Maxwell loved the grill, especially when the chef made the flames shoot up!

Sadly my computer died while I was gone in Texas. I had a really cute video of Max cracking up over my sisters dog Saddie. Unfortunately I cant upload the video now because I'm having to post from work. Don't judge, I'm a great multi tasker! However, the still images will have to convey the fun Max had.
The drive home was great. Max fell asleep before we even hit the interstate and was an angel the entire way. It may have something to do with the fact that he woke up at 6:30 and just ate a big lunch. He really is such a good boy.

No School For Now

Unfortunately after a few talks with the director of St Mark's mothers day out, Max will not be attending this year. We had enrolled him in February thinking that he would be walking by that time and there would be no problem. However, as you all know Max is not walking and still having a speech delay. We had already put him in a younger class for 18-24 month old as it is. This makes him the oldest child in the class and the only one not walking. The director felt horrible which made me feel bad. I was hoping he would still get to go to be around kids his own age and make some more friends. Just makes me sad that Max is missing out on something else that other kids his age are doing. Hopefully he can go next year though. And since I cant stand the thought of a post without my beautiful little man here you go...

What's up yo! Put Your hands in the air like you's a true playa!
