18 Month Check Up

While sitting at home yesterday watching Sesame Street with Max I decided on a whim that Max needed to get his 18 month pictures taken. I was shocked that we got straight in when I called and didn't really have to much in mind. I grabbed several different props and off we went. Max also had his 18 month appointment on Tuesday. Dr Edgmon made Max turn in his drama card at that appointment. He weighs 23.9 pounds and is 31.25 inches he is in the 20% for his age which is pretty good considering how he started out in the world. It was a thankfully uneventful visit he got a shot for Hep A and the doctor answered a few questions I had. Also I found out that Max doesn't have to go to a neuro specialist for a scan now like we thought. When he was in the hospital a few weeks ago they did the scan then and everything looks good. Also is turns out that I am not the only one giving Max bad things. His daddy has given him his bad allergies. All of his sniffles and coughing are all thanks to dad. I thankfully have nothing else major to report. Max is getting used to his Sure Steps and I am starting to see some improvement. I'm really hoping that walking is going to be coming soon. More to report next time.

Got my new kicks.

Yesterday was a very full day for the Browns. I went to work late because Max FINALLY had his followup appointment at the orthatist to get his Sure Step inserts. They are adorable and other than when Max has been in hospitals it is the most expensive thing I have ever had to buy for him. It will all be worth it though if it helps him like I hope it will. The inserts make his foot so wide that we had to get new shoes too. Maxwell also had his last Sooner Start appointment with Mrs Jamie. She is having her baby soon and we switched physical therapists to Mrs Mary. She seems very nice and I'm sure Max will love her too.

Hello Rosie!

Poor Max is turning out to be just like mommy contracting random things. I took Max to the doctor because he was still getting high fevers and had a cough with a runny nose. Yesterday Jeff called me and told me that Max had a rash developing all over his body. I was worried it was a form of strep or something but it turns out that it's Roseola. For the people who don't know that is a virus that has high fevers and a rash. Turns out the rash is the last part of the virus and at least the worst is over. I'm done saying that we are on the mend because I seem to be jinxing myself. So until next time.

One Crazy Weekend

The Brown family had one crazy weekend! It all started pretty normal I went to work on Friday and my dad watched Max as usual. I got home from work and Max was lethargic and whimpering in my dad's lap. Max had just woken up from a nap. My dad said that he seemed a like he was getting sick before he laid down. Jeff actually gave Max some Benadryl because we thought he was having some allergies. I picked up Max and he was burning up so I took his temp and it was 105.7! I gave him some Motrin and called the doctor. They called back and wanted him to come in immediately. I took him in and they ran some tests like swine flu and RSV. Both came back negative and the doctor decided to do one last test for strep. While we were waiting for the test results on that I was holding Max and I thought he fell asleep. He started shaking. Nothing major but enough that I went into the hall and got the doctor. Dr Edgmon took Max from me laid him on the table. He started vomiting while having his seizure and aspirated into his lungs. The seizure lasted the longest 13 minutes of my life! He had to be transported by ambulance and ended up having to stay in the hospital. Several test later I think Max will be okay with no side effects. He is just fighting off the last of the stomach virus and was kind enough to give it to me and a few other people. I think we might be on the mend but I don't want to speak to soon. A big thanks to everyone that has been thinking about us and as always I'll try to keep you posted. Side note I'm so glad to find out my grandparents in Illinois have been able to find the blog. Hello Grandma and Grandpa Dunn, we love you and be safe!

I couldn't resist getting a few pictures of Max in the hospital, call me crazy!

Dental Delay

So here is the deal. I wrote this post on Friday and was waiting to add a picture when I got home Friday. Unfortunately we had a medical emergency and max spent the weekend in the hospital. I hope to explain it all tomorrow in a post, but for now here is the post I intended on sharing on Friday. As promised here is a recap from Max's 3 minute dentist visit. Jeff took him this morning so keep this in mind. To start Max has a tooth that is turned completely side ways. Turns out that there is absolutely nothing that can be done and the doctor thinks that this has to do with him being a preemie. Next Jeff was told to go ahead and maybe start a savings account for some braces. Poor kid is definitely mine with these teeth. The doctor also said that Max is "dentally delayed." He should have a few more teeth than he does now, however, he has about 8 teeth that are about to erupt. Poor Maxwell!!! Also this is as good of a picture that I was able to get to show what his tooth looks like.

Here we come MRI!

Max had a doctor's appointment today at the Geneticist. The new facility at OU Children's is really great. Maxwell's pediatrician was having a few minor concerns about his developmental delays and the size of his head still. His appointment lasted 2 hours. Sounds crazy, but we actually got out an hour ahead of schedule. They took an entire family history, ran some urine test and blood work. They said we will have all the results back within 4 weeks. Also weird thing happened. When Max got his blood taken he didn't make a peep. The entire time he just looked at the woman drawing his blood and was great, not a single tear or whimper. They also took his height and weight while we were there. He is 24.5 pounds and 32 inches long. He better start walking soon cause this kid is getting big! This doctor was also worried about the size of Max's head and has referred us to a neurologist where most likely Max will get an MRI. Everyone keep thinking happy thoughts. And since I am feeling sentimental today and I don't really have any new pictures to post here is a blast from the past . I cant believe it, becuase this doesn't even look like him anymore.

Max and Maddie

What could be better than sitting on a plush chair drinking some milk with your favorite dog. Max and Herman don't do much together, but Maddie is for sure Maxwell's best friend!

Night Night Maxwell

Santa brought Max a new pillow and big boy bedding. He wasn't sure about the pillow at first and I found him this morning on top of the blanket on the opposite side of the bed.

Max visits the Orthotist.

http://www.surestep.net/

I took Max for his appointment at the orthotist today down at OU. We met Dr Barringer and he agreed with Sooner Start and Max's pediatrician that he needs to get braces on his feet. He does something called pronating which is basically that he is standing on his insteps instead of regularly on his feet. He was measured today and the doctors office will call us when they are ready. If anyone is curious what the braces look like I listed the link above.
